Eyes Closed

Published by notsoboringbiblequestions on

Does the Bible say to pray with your eyes closed?

A. Yes
B. No
C. Maybe
D. Is that in the Bible?

It’s not in the Bible! On two occasions, when Jesus prayed He looked up toward heaven (John 11:41; John 17:1). There was a tax collector when he prayed humbly wouldn’t even look toward heaven (Luke 18:13). Most people probably close their eyes so that they are not distracted by the things around them. Eyes open or closed, prayers are clearly meant to be offered in faith and in accordance with God’s will (Matthew 6:9-13; James 5:13-15).
